What is Aqua Freed®? It is a process of well rehabilitation: first the formation is saturated with carbon dioxide gas which produces a highly abrasive carbonic acid solution. Then, liquid carbon dioxide is injected, which freezes the water within the aquifer, achieving disinfection and dislodging of mineral incrustation. This process has been known to produce markedly superior results compared to those using traditional chemical and physical methods, especially where iron
bacteria is present. Because only pure, inert gases are used, water quality is not affected and it eliminates the concerns involved with the handling, transportation and disposal of hazardous acids and chemicals.

D.L. Maher personnel study the well data to determine the correct placement of their patented packer. After the pump is pulled, the packer is lowered to the desired depth, creating a pressure seal to direct carbon dioxide into the well and surrounding formation.

Carbon dioxide is injected through
the packer into the well penetrating the surrounding aquifer.

When liquid carbon dioxide comes into contact with water, the effective action is expansion, formation of carbonic acid and the freezing of water within the aquifer. This works to achieve disinfection and dissolving of mineral incrustation.

After treatment, the well is redeveloped and tested. The well pump is reinstalled and the well is returned to service.
